Elektrobit, a global supplier of software products and services for the automotive industry, has signed a deal to provide its services to Chinese tech giant Baidu Inc. (Nasdaq: BIDU).

"Baidu Apollo has made tremendous strides in just two years since its launch, with support from leaders in the automotive industry, in China and around the world," Alexander Kocher, the president and managing director of Elektrobit, said in a statement today.

"China is an important and strategic market for EB, therefore we are glad to bring our products and experience into the ACU," he added.

Elektrobit will assist Baidu’s Apollo Computing Unit, (ACU) the company’s advanced in-vehicle computing platform for autonomous driving, according to the report. Elektrobit will be among ACU's 156 industry partners, which include Chinese automakers.

Elektrobit said it plans to allow car manufactures use ACU to explore the market introduction of safe systems for automated valet parking.

On Wednesday in New York, Baidu's stock closed 1 percent lower, at $99.19 per share.
