CEO of Booking.com Joins Ctrip as Board Observer

Ctrip.com International Ltd. (Nasdaq: CTRP) announced today that Gillian Tans, the chief executive officer of Booking.com, the global online travel booking giant, is taking the position of board observer at the company.

With this move, Ctrip, the largest online travel company in China and the second largest in the world, is strengthening its strategic partnership with Booking Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: BKNG). The partnership between the two booking giants opened a wider inventory of hotels and products to their customers, Ctrip said in an announcement.

"We have enjoyed a highly productive partnership with Ctrip since 2012," Tans said in a statement. "As the most established travel player in China, Ctrip is the ideal partner to help promote the development of global tourism."

Ctrip and Booking recently came out with another agreement to link OpenTable, the latter's restaurant reservations app, to Ctrip users.

The chief executive officer of Ctrip, Jane Sun, said the company is looking forward to deepening the relationship with Booking Holdings. "I am confident that our combined resources will bring more innovation and value to global travelers," she added.

Shares of Ctrip closed at $49.47 per American depositary share, up 58 cents on the day.
